The Urban League of Metropolitan Saint Louis presented its 8th Drive Through Food Pantry that served approximately 3000 families today behind the Victor Roberts Building at the North St. Louis Community Empowerment Center at 1330 Aubert.
The Urban League has been doing the food drive every week so follow them on Facebook so you don’t miss it. The next one will be held May 30th at Old Jamestown Mall in North County.
Volunteers included Congressman Wm. Lacy Clay, Mayor Lyda Krewson, Aldermanic President Lewis Reed, St. Louis Comptroller Darlene Green, Michael P. McMillan President & Chief Executive Officer of Urban League St. Louis, the National Guard and many others who helped distribute over $100,000 worth of food and toiletries.
There were turkeys, 3 types of greens, sweet potatoes, celery, apples, bananas, cabbage, onions, lunch meat, bread, yogurt, non-perishables, eggs, milk, masks, gloves, light bulbs and a host of other items that were given away.
The video above show the volunteers working hard and fast to keep the line of cars moving cutting down on the wait time for each car to get loaded.
