NEW GLARUS, WI – NOV 4, 2015: Swiss heritage is abundant in the small town (Pop 2,172) of New Glarus, Wisconsin from the food to the Swiss inspired buildings that line the streets downtown.

Now a popular tourist attraction due to its small town nuance, New Glarus is known for all of its Swiss-inspired, locally-owned businesses that feature everything Swiss.

New Glarus was founded in 1845 by immigrants that traveled from Canton of Glarus in eastern Switzerland.

When entering the town you will notice red banners attached to street poles that read ‘Gruetzi’ which means greetings or hello in the Swiss language.
