PADUCAH, KY – A Flood Warning was issued on February 24th for Paducah and Western Kentucky by the National Weather Service.
On Sunday, February 25, the City of Paducah declared a State of Emergency and began installing 14 out of the 23 floodgates along the Ohio River. The rest of the gates will be installed on March 2-3.
VIDEO: Early Sunday morning I was able to get some photos of the riverfront before the crews started working on the floodgates.
By midday Downtown was bustling as people gathered from all over to watch this enormous city-wide operation go like clockwork. Local 6 News was on site getting the facts while others held up cellphones to get personal footage of this historic event.

PADUCAH, KY – The first snowfall in Paducah happened on January 12, 2018. There was a layer of ice covered with snow so everyone was being extra cautious driving nice and slow.
The city did a great job keeping the roads clear downtown as you can see in the photos. Even though, many businesses were closed and some opened but closed early that day. The 24-hour McDonald’s on Hinkleville Road was closed when I drove by it around 5:30 pm as well.
The good news was that Dry Ground Brewery announced earlier that day that they would not be closing since people still drink beer when it snows. That one put a smile of my face. Loved it!
The photos below were taken on January 12, 2018 around 5:15 PM in downtown Paducah with a temp around 19 degrees.
