No human being should be left out on the street to starve or freeze to death.

The St. Louis Stimulus Advisory Board have plans to start a Universal Basic Income (UBI) pilot program also known as Direct Cash Assistance for people living below the poverty level. Sandra Moore said, “Various kinds of pilot programs have run and are running around the nation showing good results in the reduction and even the elimination of poverty.”

Other topics discussed in the St. Louis Advisory Board meeting were free public transportation, free internet and support for our unhouse neighbors. St. Louis has inequities that have spiraled out of control, especially during the pandemic.

Drastic times call for drastic measures and this is a bold and brave step in the right direction to help the hundreds of unhoused here in St. Louis. No human being should be left out on the street to starve or freeze to death.
