MetroPlaces is the same group developing Epperson, the lagoon community in Wesley Chapel that will mark the first in the nation. The other two lagoon communities, Brightwater in Fort Meyers and Connected City in Pasco County are slated break ground soon as well.

Prices for a townhouse or a single-family home are estimated by MetroPlaces to start at $200s to the high $300s.

The concrete lagoons are surrounded by sandy beaches that can range anywhere from 7 to over 10 acres. The water is always crystal clear and drinkable due to a patented ultra-sonic filtration system. The water depths increase the further out you go, up to around 9 feet.

The SouthShore Bay construction site is located ½ mile east of intersection US-301 and SR-674, which has a newly-opened Aldi’s grocery store, a Pubix anchored shopping center, a Walmart Supercenter and a soon-to-open Wawa as well.

The SouthShore Bay Metro Place community is just one of the nineteen Crystal Lagoon communities being built in Florida. These man-made beach front communities are trending upwards and being built all over the world.

Florida will have more Crystal Lagoon communities than any other state. Florida currently holds the record for having the most BassPro Shops as well.

  1. Interested… when is the expected date homes will be done and ready to sell? Is there expected improvements overall in the Wimauma community other than the housing area? I was interested in the Kings Point community, but this may be another option.

  2. Never got a response about the school situation….any plans being discussed because the schools in Wimauma are trash

  3. The schools in Wimauma are horrendous. Is there any plan to do something about that since you are building this wonderful family resort style complex? Terrible schools are certainly not a selling point and personally a deciding factor for me as to where I choose to live.

  4. Do they have any plans to build in Bradenton / Lakewood Ranch and when will this project break ground?

  5. Will you have any tiny homes under 200k I would love to be a part of the new community but I cannot a mortgage that high.

  6. I live in Sun City Center, and very interested to relocate to the new community. Will there be gas connection available. Will solar panels be an option. Other than the lagoon, are there any other ponds or lakes, and home sites on them? Do you have the names of the builders, and when they will make their models available to look at and when they can be purchased. Since it is a Metro Community can I assume the homes will all be fitted for WI-FI.

  7. Keep overbuilding Florida until it becomes one massive sink hole and keep ruining any natural habitat left

  8. I find some of these questions/comments hilarious.

“I live in Sun City – can you make a 55 and older section” You know…so I can be around the living when I want to but away from them when I don’t”

“Where are you getting your water from?” EG – Better not be MY water.

“Have you considered the residents of Sereno since they are metro sisters to use the beach” AKA – I don’t want to buy into your community, I just want to use your amenities.

  9. Would be nice if they included a 55 plus section in the community! I live in Sun City Center and I would love a community that offered a section for seniors who still enjoy being around younger adults and children. Would be awesome. If be very interested in purchasing a home in your community if it was offered.

  10. Have you considered the residents of Sereno since they are metro sisters to use the beach?
Maybe for a considerable fee? This may help keep the HOA and CDD maintain there moderate fees lower.

    1. The fees will be around $250 a month depending on where you live in community. Some of that will be paid with your taxes.

  11. Where is the water coming from to fill this upscale lagoon? The already tapped Hillsborough River or are you going to drill wells and lower the aquifer needed for “normal” homeowners.

  12. Will peaople who don’t live in the community have access to the water?

    ADMIN REPLY:
Hello Mrs Ellis, only residence living in the lagoon community will have access. However, family and friends visiting someone living in the community may have access while visiting.

    1. It is my understanding that the residents of Serano will be allowed to use the lagoon. Is this correct?

  13. How many homes are expected to be built in the new South Shore Crystal Lagoons development in Wimuama, Florida???
