METROPOLIS, IL – Scarecrows will be on display along Market Street through October in front of businesses and organizations in historic downtown Metropolis.
The scarecrow invasion is due to local businesses and organizations competing in the 1st Ever Metropolis Scarecrow Decorating Contest. All businesses and organizations are invited to join in on the fun as well.
The public can vote for their favorite scarecrow by donating money at the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce. The winner of the competition will have rights to forward the winning funds to their favorite Massac County charity with the City of Metropolis matching the donations up to $250.
Some suggested charities include the COPE Food Pantry, Guardian House Women’s Shelter, Hope Unlimited, etc.
