Alderman Rasheen Aldridge of the 14th Ward in St. Louis, Missouri, distributes LED lights to St. Louis residences with Ameren Missouri and CITY SC. Ameren Missouri donates 100 LED energy-efficient light bulbs to the community for every goal scored by the St. Louis CITY SC team.

Aldridge and 50 volunteers distributed 500 LED porch lights to the Carr Square Neighborhood in St. Louis City. City SC players Joakim Nilsson and Niko Giocchini helped distribute the lights.

Ameren Missouri also has a Community Lighting Program that makes LED bulbs more affordable in income-qualified areas.

My name’s Rasheen Aldridge. I’m the alderman of this area. I also grew up literally two blocks down here. So I wanna thank Trina, Marco, and Ameren, and everybody that’s putting this all together for distributing light bulbs, trying to brighten up the community a little bit.

Like Trina said, daylight saving time is coming. So people are trying to save every penny possible on a dollar. We know that these light bulbs also help with that, but as well as it’s a way to deter crime. I wanna thank City SC and the players and just the whole organization.

Matt, my assistant, who’s out here, I got him working tirelessly with me. But thank you all for being here to distribute these light bulbs. Like Ms. Trina said, let’s have fun. It’s a great opportunity to just introduce yourselves and let people know we are here on behalf of Ameren and City SC to give you a light bulb. And also in the packet are some information on utility assistance.

So people that may need a little bit of help, especially even though we may be post-COVID, like I say again, people try to save every little penny possible. So if they do need help, the opportunity is there. And if they don’t, maybe they can pass it on to somebody else. But from the bottom of my heart, I wanna thank each and every one of you for being here because it means a lot. Thank you!
