The Railway Exchange Building is a 21-story high-rise office building that has been vacant since 2014 in Downtown St. Louis, Mo. It’s tied up in court with multiple parties involved. The building was the flagship for Famous Barr for years and then Macy’s moved in and in 2008, just a few years later, they moved out.

In 2017, the Railroad Exchange property was purchased for $20 million by Hudson Holdings, a National Historic Property Developer based in Delray Beach, Florida.

Since the Pandemic, these high-rise buildings are becoming less attractive to businesses due to Zoom and telecommuting (working from home). Groups looking at the property are most likely thinking about a hotel or another mix-used development with retail on the bottom floor and apartments above. The Railway Exchange Building is located at 600 Locust Street in Downtown St. Louis and was still vacant in November of 2021.
