DOWNTOWN / TAMPA, FL – NOV 11, 2015: Perry Harvey Park is being completely renovated in a master plan called the Encore Project that will feature Central Avenue when it was still booming decades ago in Tampa, FL.
At one time Central Avenue was a main thoroughfare that was lined with thriving businesses and entertainment venues owned mainly by African Americans that lived in the community as well.
Famous names that entertained on Central Avenue (now Orange St) included Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles to name a few.
The New Attractions
The Interactive Fountain Plaza will allow children and adults play in the maryid of fountains that will sprout up from the ground, not so dissimilar from the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park along Ashley St.
The History Trail will feature Central Avenue’s rich culture and its origins with the names of the men and women that helped shape the community around Central Avenue.
The Bro Bowl will be recreated into an even better skate park for skate borders.
