TAMPA, FL – It was Hillsborough County Student Day at the Florida State Fair where the all students with a free Student Day ticket got in free on February 6, 2015 in Tampa, FL.
The students were allowed to get on the rides all day and night but needed to be with an adult (21 or older) after 6:00 p.m.
Today some were thrown out for bad behavior and there was a small fight that broke out later in the evening, but everything was handled so professionally and expediently by the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Department, the incidents that did occur didn’t have time to escalate.

RUSKIN / SOUTHSHORE, FL – FEB 5: The Fish House is family owned and famous for their fried fish in the South Shore area. And if you ever drive by around suppertime you will see people lined up waiting to order the fresh-catches of the day.
Similar to an old fashioned picnic-at-the-park-fish-fry, the restaurant is in a rural setting with outside dinning on classic communal park benches all under a wooden pavilion.
The Fish House currently ranks #2 out of 51 restaurants in Ruskin, calculated according to 119 customer reviews on Tripadvisor.
Below is one of the on the many 5-star reviews for The Fish House on tripadvisor.com posted in January 2015:
Friendly staff, great ambiance, and WONDERFUL FRESH SEAFOOD! If you are in the area check it out! Simple family business with no frills. Eat at a picnic table after ordering at the window. Wish there were more gems like The Fish House!
The Fish House Seafood restaurant was awarded the Gold Winner Best Of South Shore in 2012 and in 2014 by TBO.com.
What to expect: delicious fried seafood served on paper plates with a splash of ‘good ole fashion’ southern hospitality.
TAMPA/YBOR CITY, FL – The Ferlita Bakery (originally La Joven Francesca) was once a vibrant part of the community in Ybor City.
Opened in 1896, Francisco Ferlita (the grandfather) would home deliver warm bread by horse and buggy for 3 to 5 cents per loaf. The bakery continued delivering bread to its customers until they closed in 1973.
Rose V. Ferlita grew up working with her family at the Ferlita Bakery and talked about the home delivery service in an 2011 interview with Emanuel Leto from Cigar Magazine:
If you couldn’t get there (the bakery), my Dad, Joseph (“Pino”), would make sure that he would deliver it to your home. I never could understand the commitment to deliver the loaf or half loaves to people’s home. The cost certainly outweighed the profit for doing that. But, my Dad tried many, many times to explain how commitment outweighed profit. I never [understood] until I embraced those same values many years later in my drug store as a pharmacist.
A marker at the site tells of my Grandfather (Francisco Ferlita) delivering bread, via horse and buggy. It characterizes the Ferlita Family’s place in Ybor history [and as pioneers of Ybor City].
In 1973 the bakery closed and was transformed into a museum with the ovens still intact. The building facade still bears the name of Rose’s grandfather (F. Ferlita) with the address 1818 9th Avenue.
The year 1923 on the outside of the building represent the year it was renovated with brick after the old wooden structure was destroyed by fire.
