A New York man has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in West Virginia, according to court records.
Brian Ellis Jones, 44, of Freeport, received an 18-year prison sentence for mailing 11 packages of methamphetamine to Jason Todd Painter, 40, of Clendenin, West Virginia, between March and June 2023, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Jones admitted that the packages contained at least 33 pounds of meth. Prosecutors said Painter kept some for personal use, while Jones directed him to distribute the rest throughout Kanawha County or retrieve it himself.
Authorities intercepted one of the shipments in July 2023 through the U.S. Postal Service, leading to Jones’ arrest.
