Mayor Tishaura Jones attended Sista Strut Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 1st and Officially declared Sista Strut Day for the City of St. Louis.
She walked on stage with her sorority and said, “Good morning everybody. I hope you indulge me while I bring my sisters from my chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
I wanted to welcome you all back for another Sista Strut. This is the first time we been in person in a long time; it so good to see all your beautiful faces.
And you know I have been really public about my journey with breast cancer. I am on the high-risk list. Several of my aunts, my cousins all either had or died from breast cancer. so I get squeezed every six months. I don’t like it, but I got to do it in order to stay here for my baby, and to stay here for you, so I can run this city.
And since this is such a special occasion for Sista Strut, I would like to declare today Sista Strut day in the City of St. Louis. So I just want to again to encourage all of you who are on this journey to keep going. We have to keep healthy and have to get are regular check ups, ladies. I know it’s not fun and I wish modern medicine would come up with another way to check us on our journey, but we got to do it, ladies. Can I get an Amen. Alright everybody, take care and God Bless.”
