METROPOLIS, IL – The Hope Light is a 30 foot tall lighthouse located along the Ohio River in Dorothy Miller Park in Metropolis, IL.

This lighthouse was created as a ‘Beacon of Hope’ for cancer patients and cancer survivors. The light represents cancer prevention and early detection as well.

The City of Metropolis donated a section of land in Dorothy Miller Park for the Hope Light project that was completed on June 4, 2014. 

  • Eggemeyer Associates Architects of Carbondale, IL designed the Lighthouse.
  • Parker Custom Machine Shop in Metropolis built the Lighthouse.
  • Lefarge of Metropolis donated the cement.
  • Kotter Ready Mix of Metropolis donated the concrete.
