QUEENS, NY – Disturbing footage has emerged capturing the tragic moment 16-year-old Sincere Jazmin was fatally shot dead in the doorway of Queens bodega in what police believe was a school-related dispute. His heartbroken father, Terrell Kanston, is pleading for justice as authorities continue their search for the gunman.
Jazmin was shot in the chest around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday near Liberty Avenue and 172nd Street after stepping off a Q83 bus. Surveillance footage shows the teen, wearing a backpack, stumbling across the street before collapsing outside C.Y. Deli Grocery.
“My son was a good kid—all he wanted to do was show love to everybody. It’s just sad, bro,” Kanston said through tears as he visited the scene Thursday morning.
A Desperate Struggle for Help
The video shows Jazmin sitting on a step outside the store, clutching his chest. A beer deliveryman, noticing his distress, repeatedly asks what happened, but the teen is unable to respond. Moments later, he collapses inside the store’s doorway.
“He was holding his chest, but there was no blood,” said store manager Kenny Patel. “He tried to get up but couldn’t. His eyes were closed. My worker called 911.”
Emergency responders rushed Jazmin to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Father’s Plea for Justice
Kanston visited the deli Thursday morning, shaking Patel’s hand as tears streamed down his face. “I’m his father. Thank you,” he said, before looking toward the bus stop where the deadly altercation began.
“I just came to see where it happened. I’m hurting. I don’t have words right now,” he said before driving away.
Police Search for Gunman
Authorities have not made any arrests as of Thursday morning. The shooter was last seen wearing a black vest over a gray hoodie and a mask. Investigators believe the violence stemmed from an ongoing feud between students.
As a devastated family mourns, police urge anyone with information to come forward.
