Gloria Estefan, City Officials Discuss Future of Miami Marine Stadium

MIAMI, FL – Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan (L) joined the press conference regarding the future of the historic Miami Marine Stadium.

City officials announced their plan to raise $30 million for a complete restoration of the stadium. They hope to have it done in time for the 2016 International Boat Show.

Built in 1962, this was the only Marine Stadium in the United States that was specifically designed for water shows and boat races.

The arena seats 6,566 and was a popular outside venue for concerts, as well, until it was closed down in 1992 due damage from Hurricane Andrew.
