The Big Bend Solar Facility, currently under construction, can be viewed along the west side of US-41, just south of Big Bend Road next to the ABC Supply building in Apollo Beach, FL.

The strip of land being used for the solar facility is located between US-41 and Dickman Road. On Dickman Road the solar plant will be south of the Manatee Viewing Center and the Big Bend Power Station as well.

The 200,000 solar panels will generate 23-megawatts, which is enough to power 3,300 homes.

HOW BIG WILL IT BE?
The solar panels are being built on 125 acres of land owned by Tampa Electric (TECO). When completed, this will be the biggest solar panel array in the Tampa Bay area.

WHEN WILL IT BE COMPLETED?
It is scheduled to be finished in May of 2017 if everything goes as planned.

  1. whatts supposed to be free power. a ‘greedy’ company like teco will still charge for this they are getting from the sun for free.. they could offer it to lower or fixed income homes. but in the end its all about the $$$$$ for their buisness side.
