Barbara Bultman won the fashion competition Fashion Anarchy and was awarded a years residency with the Saint Louis Fashion Fund, a coveted place to be for any aspiring fashion designer.
Prior to the competition, Barbara Bultman was interview inside the 1909 International Shoe Company building which is now The Last Hotel that sits smack-dab in the middle of the historic Garment District in St. Louis.
The interview took place just days before Fashion Anarchy’s final competition at The Last Hotel. Fashion Anarchy has become a sought after competition that’s a popular and annual event in St. Louis.
Barbara Bultman, days before winning, talks about the competition, her future and her puppies.
Fashion Anarchy stands out in past events that I’ve done in the fashion industry because you have 48 hours one look and then they give you this challenge also with KDR Showrooms you use upholstery fabric. They give you inspiration literally days before the show so you have to try and figure out what you’re going to make fast. It totally pushes you to do something different and make something new.
My future as a business woman in the fashion industry basically my next step I am going to do is…I want to do mass production. I am going to start manufacturing and being a part of the Saint Louis Fashion Fund would really help me escalate that and get me moving in the right direction.
So..a little bit of information that a lot of people don’t know about me is that I have three dogs and people think I am crazy because I have three dogs…not by choice. My mom decided to get me one for Christmas one year right after I just got another puppy. So now I have three dogs but I love all of them.Barbara Bultmann Fashion Designer in St. Louis
I have a Frenchie, a Boston Terrier and a Chihuahua Pug mix and they are all just as crazy as the other ones. So….it’s great!
