METROPOLIS, IL – A new Apartment Hotel  is coming to Superman Square featuring short-term stay options located on the 2nd floor of the Jones Building above the new Milton’s Hot Dog eatery in beautiful downtown Metropolis, IL.

The new Jones apartment hotel will be listed on booking sites such as Airbnb and VRBO. These are companies that feature short-term lodging options where people rent apartments and vacation homes from a few days to weeks at a time.

Renovations of the 2nd floor are slated to begin this winter. Joshua Reagor, owner of the Jones Building, stated that:

”The eight offices on the second floor will be converted into 4 apartments. But they are not going to be permanent apartments like you rent month-to-month. We are going to put them out on Airbnb and VRBO. So when visitors come for the Superman Celebrations and Quilt Shows, we’ll rent them more like a hotel room. And that will stimulate some of the downtown evening traffic downtown.”

ABOUT THE JONES BUILDING

The construction of the building began in 1905 and finished in 1908. It’s all brick and oak timber.

It’s called the Jones building due to the name being stenciled above the front door. And the name has been on the building since anyone can remember. However, no records can be found of any Jones ever owning or residing in the building.

“When I bought the building, this is where I wanted my real estate offices,” said Joshua. He comically added with a smile, “And I don’t believe in renting,” as we all laughed in agreement.

Joshua’s Real Estate Company takes up three units on the first floor. Residing in the other units are Beard & Pugh CPAs and the recently opened Milton’s Hot Dog eatery that serve the best dogs ever!

RESTAURANT UPDATE FOR METROPOLIS 2017

Milton’s Hot Dogs was the second eatery to open on Market Street this year with the other one being 718 Brew Cafe that opened in March.

Two more eateries slated to open in Metropolis are the Cordavino’s Italian Restaurant on Ferry Street and the donut shop on E. 5th Street.
