DOWNTOWN TAMP – AUGUST 2: University of Tampa (UT) was established in 1931 and moved into the former Tampa Bay Hotel in 1933 in Downtown Tampa, Florida.

Celebrity names such as the Queen of England, Teddy Roosevelt, Stephen Crane and Babe Ruth all stayed in the very rooms that UT students now use for classrooms.

The 551-room hotel was built between 1888 and 1891 and a historic Icon for Downtown Tampa that can be found on Tampa’s OFFICIAL Postcard and brochures.

UT is a private co-educational school accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools. Read more about UT and the buildings history at http://www.ut.edu/history/
