DOWNTOWN TAMPA – AUG 2: This historic marker on Kennedy Blvd. at Rivergate Tower explains how the Hillsborough River Ferry (1846-1888) was the only way to cross the river at the time. The construction of the first bridge in 1888 forced the Tampa Ferry into retirement.
